Terrorizer Magazine Issue #101 "Don't F**k With US"Not that many labels can be credited with advancing a new genre in music let alone have it's name be synonymous with the said style. The digital hardcore scene has seen a steady evolution since the first releases of Atari Teenage Riot and Ec8or. Artists have been slaving away in home studios producing what is essentially punk and hardcore on computers, and like the second wave of punk, DHC is deeply entrenched in social politics.
This 3xCD pack (compiled by Alec Empire) contains 35 bands delivering 66 tracks, ranging from screaming NY-style hardcore/gabba, to brooding drum and bass, from chugging industrial doom metal, to disorienting stumbling beats, all collected under one banner of digital hardcore.
It would be pointless to pull out and dissect this collection track by track as it is all relevant. From riot-inducing noise that will make you feel like tearing down 'the system' to the more chilled tracks that will give you the chance to reflect on the fucked up state of things. Yes, it is punk, yes it is industrial, yes it is metal, yes it is a threat, yes it is a warning and yes it is the future of revolutionary music.9/10 Alex Boniwell
